This week started off with a meeting with Dr Paula Crutchlow, we talked about her involvement in a range of performance projects to her interest in participatory research and collaborations. We found common themes and ideas across her involvement with Into-bodmin with the ‘All the beautiful things’ Dr Crutchlow talked me though her ideas for a journey through Bodmin from the Beacon to the Church of St Petroc. Blind Ditch will document the journey through film and a series of sound bites that aim to capture the essence of the town. This project builds into a bigger idea from Into-Bodmin; “Explore Everywhere’. This aims to encourage locals to explore the town beyond their usual routes in and out of the town, it will also encourage people who may not typically come into Bodmin, to explore the town.

One of the ideas that we spoke about was to crate a series of postcards to capture peoples viewpoints of the town. Aiming to evoke emotions, memories and thoughts of the town through a series of written or drawn tasks. This was a short turn around and was able to present the below idea. Paula admitted that it was difficult to try and ‘brand’ the project and exhibition on such short notice, and so may not yet use the outcomes I had suggested. But I will have access to the information that is being gathered from this.
Next week I have planned a few meetings with people to discuss their relationship with the town. From someone who has spent many years in Bodmin, went to the local school but does not see himself as being Cornish. To a local business owner who has moved recently into the area and set up a business with her sister. I aim to compare and contrast ideas from two different perspectives. I also have a meeting with Fin and Blind Ditch to talk through the ‘All the beautiful things’ project’.
