MA Project 1.20

The last post was about experimentation and this week is more about refinement. I understand the need to push the limits and explore new ideas and visual boundaries. However I believe I need to also consider my user and target audience. Will the people of Bodmin ‘get it’ if the visuals are too bold and experimental. Will it deter people from engaging? I will still continue to experiment somewhat with the visual language of the branding / project. However I do like the colour palette that I have been working with and now feel that I have two typefaces that compliment each other. I will design a visual for the project and send this out for feedback. Comments from this weeks impromptu webinar was that I could play around with the typography a little more. This was in response to the crazy quick experiments from last week. I had started this website mock up so, set myself the challenge of designing a landing page and a call to action point in half an hour. This limited my time for ‘messing’ but gave me a deadline to focus my attention. There are areas of this design that I like and would continue to use within the visual language of my project. There are a few areas that could also change and become clearer. I will work on these in another given time slot. My next time slot may be to explore ideas with the typeface and logo.

One of the ideas brought about from feedback from the community was a pedestrianised high street. This idea had decided the locals but I believe that this would be an excellent idea to regenerate the town and encourage people into the town for more leisure activities. This also coincides with the developments towards a cycle path that connects the camel trail (links to wadebridge and padstow) to encourage tourists to visit the town. Further enhancing the local economy and presenting more employment opportunities. The simple idea of pedestrianising the high street has a knock on effect that promotes the town and local businesses.
